About Hypnotherapy
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation. In a deeply relaxed
state, suggestions can be introduced to the subconscious and conscious mind,
which in turn can positively affect behavior and body function.
Will I lose control?
There are many myths about hypnosis because of Hollywood and stage hypnotist's acts. The truth is- ALL HYPNOSIS IS SELF HYPNOSIS! It is not possible be hypnotized without desiring it and it is not possible for the hypnotist to make a client do something they don't want. If the suggestion isn't desired, the client (also known as the c0-therapist), who is always thinking and alert, will automatically break trance. While one is in a session, there is a dialogue between the therapist and co-therapist, the client is never asleep, and he or she can decide to share or not share what she is learning or thinking during the session. Hypnosis is not a truth serum, the client is ALWAYS in complete control.
Stage hypnosis is fun entertainment, but it is important to recognize that a
person who is on stage barking like a dog or clucking like a chicken is a
fun loving person who is willing to go along with the suggestion. If they
didn't want to do it, the hypnotist wouldn't be able to get them to take the
suggestion.
Why is hypnosis helpful?
Hypnosis is useful because it is an effective way to access the subconscious
mind, which runs the physical body and also programs behavior.
Why does hypnosis help with physical issues?
The systems of physical body are run by the subconscious mind. Because the
subconscious controls the body's healing functions, by establishing a new
thought in the subconscious mind, the physical body begins to effortlessly
implement healing and directing the body's systems and organs to function in
a new more healthy way.
Can hypnosis help with pain?
Yes, because the subconscious speaks to the nervous system, pain can be
reduced and sometimes eliminated. Clients must be under the care of a
medical professional and the source of the pain should be medically
determined. Anita is not medically trained and does not replace medical
care. Hypnosis is a complementary care to be used in conjunction and to
support your doctor's treatment.
Can one do harm with hypnosis?
No, because the client never loses consciousness in the hypnotic trance, the
client always maintains full control over the ideas he or she decides to
accept or reject. Hollywood movies have created many negative myths about
hypnosis. However, the fact is that the client is always in complete control
over their trance state. It can be said that all hypnosis is actually
self-hypnosis, because in order to be hypnotized, the client must want to
experience the relaxation and altered state of trance. Even the most skilled
hypnotherapist cannot possibly induce trance in an unwilling subject. The
client is not 'under' hypnosis but rather is 'in' a natural and relaxed
hypnotic state.
Can hypnosis help me be more creative?
Yes! Because all humans have a natural creative intelligence, in hypnosis it
is possible to access hidden areas of talent. Additionally, by removing the
limiting ideas from old childhood 'programs', clients can find they have
skills that were buried and have been waiting, dormant for the opportunity
to emerge.
It is also possible to access talents from past life experiences!
Can hypnosis help me with past traumatic events?
Yes! The brain stores memories in the subconscious. Traumatic events
automatically burn a pathway through the synapses of the brain. As the
memories are replayed over and over, this synaptic pattern becomes very
fixed and the slightest reminder can trigger the memory to be relived again.
In a hypnotic relaxed trance, a skilled hypnotherapist can help to reduce
the re-living of the event, and reduce the power of the emotions in the
memory.
**We like to use a combination of EMDR therapy and hypnosis for optimum results.
